“Havona Communication #2,084,722. The

Trinity continues to receive threats from the other side. Quantum engineers are working to destroy the bombs, but all circuit teachers must report to Havona for additional training. Effective immediately.”

The hologram disappeared. Daimon remained in his deep, unmoving trance. He almost looked like a wax mannequin, a replica of his true self.

Sam turned to Quark and Ananda and shrieked, “Did you hear that? The black hole has bombs. I knew it. We’ve got to defend ourselves!”

“It also says quantum engineers are working on it,” Ananda countered. “Last time I checked, you weren’t a quantum anything.”

Sam yelled back, “Wake up and smell the sulfur, guys. Bombs are about to go off. Daimon’s checked out. We’ve got to do something or we’re all going to get blown up. And if we get blown up, we’ll get Reset! We’ll lose everything.”

Daimon interjected, “Sam, what you’re saying is only a half-truth.”

Everyone turned in surprise. Ananda ran to Daimon and wrapped him in a fearful embrace, relieved to have her mentor back in action.

“Daimon, we’re so glad you’re awake. What happened to you? What’s going on?” she asked.

“Sam witnessed Havona’s central black hole. It serves as the main gate to the anti-universe, which is filled with anti-worlds. Which contain anti-people who are made of anti-particles,” Daimon explained.

“Anti-people?” Sam asked sarcastically. Was he joking?

“That’s right,” Daimon responded. “There are anti-people out there that are similar to you, yet very different. These anti-people are the polar opposite of us.”

“Is there a version of me in the anti-universe?” Quark asked.

Daimon smiled. “Yes, we all have an anti-self. If you were ever to meet yours, you wouldn’t want to shake hands with him — or you’d both be annihilated.”

The weight of this statement registered with the group. Sam didn’t fully trust Daimon, and he had a lot of questions that needed answers. Sam immediately charged back.

“Why is thick gas coming from the black hole? Is that from the bombs? Is it going to suck Havona in? Don’t lie to me.”

“That information is beyond the knowledge of the first circuit experience.” Daimon was trained well to avoid these type of questions, but Sam would not accept his vague response. He demanded answers.

“Who was that man watching me?” Sam added.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” Daimon answered.

Sam clenched his hands into fists. He hated being lied to. Daimon continued before Sam could get another question in.

“There is much to learn. Let us now focus our attention back to the lessons of this first circuit planet.”

Sam’s mind raced, examining all the clues to figure out how to get out of here without being Reset. His thoughts ran in a continuous loop.

“They have bombs!” Sam screamed. “We need to retaliate.”

Daimon whispered, “Oh Sam, don’t you see? This level of thinking got you killed in the first place.”

Daimon’s words cut Sam like a million shards of familiar glass, but the pain only made him more aggressive. He stood in front of the giant with his chest puffed out, breathing hard and fast.
